You know spring has arrived when...
✔ You own more mud boots than dress shoes.
✔ You automatically check the weather forecast for freezing nights and warm days.
✔ The smell of wood smoke makes you hungry.
✔ You judge breakfast restaurants by the quality of their maple syrup.
✔ Your truck contains at least one empty syrup jug.
✔ You know that "stick season" is a real thing.
✔ You don't mind a little mud if there's fresh syrup waiting at the sugarhouse.
✔ You think vanilla ice cream is simply an excuse to eat more maple syrup.
✔ You know the difference between amber and dark syrup—and have an opinion about it.
✔ You've said, "This weather ought to get the sap running."
If you nodded your head more than three times...
Congratulations.
You might just be a Vermonter.
(Or you're halfway there.)
